These photos were taken on Machias Seal Island off the coast of Maine/New Brunswick (the island is apparently in disputed territory). There are something on the order of 10,000 Atlantic Puffins and 6,000 Razor Billed Auks on the island. When you visit (and there are only 2 or 3 licensed operators) you arrive after a 1.5 hour boat trip and then spend about an hour in a blind. You don't get much chance to walk around so as not to disturb the birds. In the blind, the birds come within a couple of feet (there were times when I couldn't focus because a bird was closer than my lens' minimum focusing distance!).
Added additional shots on July 12th.
